This article examines the multifaceted changes in the oral cavity associated with diabetes mellitus. Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes increases susceptibility to periodontal disease, dental caries, oral infections, salivary gland dysfunction, and mucosal changes. These oral complications not only affect the oral cavity, but also contribute to systemic inflammation and impaired glycemic control. Effective management strategies that combine regular dental checkups, oral hygiene education, lifestyle changes, and interdisciplinary collaboration between dental and medical professionals to improve oral health. It is essential to optimize outcomes and ensure the overall well-being of people with diabetes.
